NO KINGS WE THE PEOPLE RALLY

People kept coming. A steady stream. On bicycles, unicycles, on foot, in wheelchairs, on scooters, leaning on canes, carrying signs, carriages carrying babies, cars driving by honking.Â
Superman was there. I saw two large, beautiful chickens, a big beautiful pink pig. People trading signs, making friends, waving flags all the while amidst intermittent, thunderous roars of solidarity just in the distance. Â
As I was leaving, I noticed a man leaning against a post, with another kind of sign. His sign asked for, 'anything you can spare.' His head was bowed, I couldn't see his face. I placed a bottle of water in his shaking hand and the shaking settled down as he received the water. I held out a granola bar and asked him if he wanted it. As I reached out to give it to him, his face lifted and I saw him smile wide. "Thank you," he said.
